International Day for Biodiversity

This day was created to raise awareness regarding issues biodiversity is facing, such as biodiversity loss due to human land expansion and climate change. This day highlights the importance that biodiversity has on the environment and how we rely on its wellbeing for societal purposes.

World Turtle Day

Created as a yearly observance to help protect turtles and their disappearing habitats as well as to encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.

Conservation of Mangroves Day

Mangroves protect coastlines from erosion, they regulate flooding and buffer storms, provide nursery habitats for fish and can store large amounts of carbon dioxide. The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem is to raise awareness of the importance of mangroves as a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem.

International Ocean Cleanup Day

Promotes country-scale organized and individual cleanup events to prevent plastic from entering the ocean. Keeping the ocean clean is crucial for protecting ocean biodiversity.  

World River Day

The World River Day's purpose is to increase public awareness about rivers and to encourage their conservation. Currently, rapid urbanization, fertilizer runoff, and rising temperatures pose a threat to the integrity of rivers.

America Recycles Day

The purpose of this day is to promote and celebrate recycling in the US. Its goal is to educate and encourage people to be more aware of what they consume as well as how to properly recycle.
